Cable/Metal Theft Alert


THEFT OF METAL/CABLE 19/04/24-30/04/24

 

The following incidents have occurred in the last 2 week period. There are would appear to be organised criminals stealing cable particularly around the Lanarkshire area. Cable remains a theft attractive commodity across the UK with highly organised gangs committing high value thefts.

Theft of cable    

GLASGOW          

Drum of cable has been taken from the site staff advised the culprit would have had to use a Hiab to drop the cables off. Material is copper and would weigh around 2 tonnes.

Caller reporting breaking at locus address. Noting that lead piping from inside the building has been removed - causing flooding which has caused extensive damage to building - resulting in floors coming away.

WISHAW             

Suspects have gained access to the site any time between 12/04/24 and 19/04/24 and have dug up an extensive area of ground to remove wiring, thereafter striping the wiring down and stealing the copper wiring.

Trenches have been dug and copper cable has been stolen. These are not connected but live cables are close by.

Approx. 300 metres of heavy copper cable stolen from locus.
