Essential Gas Network Upgrade - Glen Road - Bridge of Allan

Dear Resident

We'll shortly begin work to upgrade our gas network within the Glen Road area of Bridge of Allan.

This essential work involves the replacement of old, metal gas mains with new plastic pipe, ensuring a continued safe and reliable gas supply to the local community. It will also ensure our network is ready for green sources of energy, such as hydrogen, in future.

We've planned our work in close consultation with the local authorities to reduce disruption as much as possible. Phase one of our project will begin on Monday 27 June and will be carried out by our contractor George Ritchie, Utilities on our behalf and will take approximately 10 - 12 weeks to complete.

During this project we will be required to suspend on street parking to ensure we gain safe access to our pipes. Access will be given to driveways and entrance gates at all times unless previously agreed with the occupier. As works will be carried out on a phased basis not all restrictions will be in place at the same time.

The following road closures will also be in operation:

  • Ferniebank Brae - full closure
  • Upper Glen Road - road closure between Glen Road & Pendreich Road
  • Coxburn Brae - footway closure towards Upper Glen Road
  • Glen Road junction with Blairforkie Drive
  • Well Road closed junction with Alexander Drive
  • Mine Road - closed junction with Abercromby Drive
  • Abercromby Drive - closed between Mine Road & Claremont Drive
  • Chalton Road - closed between Abercrombie Drive & Kenilworth Road
  • Temporary road signals will also be in use throughout this project and may cause delays during busy peak periods. We wish to assure you that work will progress as quickly as possible, and we will make every effort to minimise any inconvenience caused by our works.

Emergency vehicle access will be maintained throughout our works.

We’re working closely with the Scottish Government and public bodies to make sure we’re working in line with expert advice during the coronavirus outbreak. We have extra safety precautions in place to protect our colleagues and our customers from catching or spreading the virus as we carry out our safety-critical project.

Our colleagues will be keeping to social distancing guidelines on our sites and we’d ask communities to keep their distance too.

We’re writing to residents and other local stakeholders to make them aware of our project and explain the details of our work. Please feel free to also share this information with anyone you think may be impacted by our project.

If you have any specific enquiries about this project, please call us on 0800 912 1700 and our customer experience team will be happy to help.

We'll be working as quickly as possible to complete our work, and will be making every effort to minimise inconvenience to the local community and commuters.
