Theft of diesel - New Aberdour

We are appealing for information in relation to the theft of diesel from several commercial vehicles in the New Aberdour area. Approximately 1000 litres of diesel was siphoned from several commercial vehicles between 8.00pm on Saturday 29th March and 7.00 am on Sunday 30th March 2026.

Visible, well‑positioned cameras can deter opportunists and help capture crucial evidence. Ensure cameras cover vehicle parking areas, fuel storage points, and site entrances. 

🔹 Increase Physical Security
Reinforce fencing, locks and alarm systems around fuel tanks. Consider screening tanks from public view and even from above, as offenders have been known to use online mapping tools to identify targets. 

🔹 Use Security Lighting
Good lighting—especially dusk‑to‑dawn systems—reduces the ability for criminals to operate unnoticed. 

🔹 Defensive Parking
Where possible, park vehicles to restrict access to fuel tanks—using other vehicles or solid structures as barriers. If parking off‑site, choose secure, well‑lit locations. 

🔹 Consider Anti‑Siphon Devices
Aftermarket anti‑siphoning equipment can help prevent offenders from draining fuel tanks.
